90. 2015 February Challenge: International Fanworks Day by Rhapsody

[Reviews - 2]

The February 2015 challenge was in honour of International Fanworks Day. This challenge was to write a story about something that someone in Middle-earth might be a fan of. For example, does Maglor have a problem with fangirls? Does Aragorn have a weakness for First Age poetry? Do famous hobbit cooks have a following? Do some people of Minas Tirith make up stories about the Royal Family? Or any other sort of fannish scenario you can think of. Prompts will be based on your source, so if you comment, please indicate if you are going to base the story in The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings or some other book by Tolkien, or an adaptation of his work such as the movies. The prompt given was a character from that work; but the author did not need to feature the character in his or her story, but he/she a mention was required.

92. 2015 April Challenge: Lyrical Love, Short form by Rhapsody

[Reviews - 3]

The 2015 April Challenge had the theme "Lyrical Love". The twist was that it could be any sort of love except romantic love. It can be love for a family member, a friend, an object, a place or an idea or anything else--but not for a romantic relationship! In honor of the fact that April is National Poetry Month, we asked the participants to try their hand at a short poem. No form could be longer than 15 lines, and if possible shorter.

94. 2015 June Challenge: Wisdom by Rhapsody

[Reviews - 1]

The 2015 June Challenge had the theme "Wisdom". Stories written for this challenge should focus on some aspect of that topic: you can show a character having or lacking wisdom, something to do with the nature of wisdom, or musings on a character considered to be wise, or anything else to do with the topic. Prompts for the challenge were proverbs; the proverb could be quoted in the story, used as a title, or just used as inspiration.

Artíreverse. by WendWriter

[Reviews - 1]

Artíre the double agent came into being because I wanted to give the Watcher in the Water a backstory. I made him a lover of drama and conflict - observing, not taking part, who was inveigled by Sauron into taking Melkor's side against the Ainur. This creates a feud that bubbles for ages when Sauron becomes paranoid about the possibility of Artíre's seeking revenge. The pre-emptive strikes Sauron makes bring the Watcher's wrath upon him, and kicks off a cycle of hate that wreaks havoc throughout Middle-earth.

Bits of Elven Glass by Himring

[Reviews - 10]

Ficlets that form part of an attempt to weave the different accounts of the making and the history of the Elessar into a coherent narrative.

rn

As the different accounts of the Elessar in the History of Middle-Earth are not compatible with each other, this narrative is not canonical, but neither is it completely AU.

rn

The title alludes to the sneering description of Aragorn's Elessar as a "piece of elvish glass" by the Mouth of Sauron in  Return of the King.

rn

(There are a few other pieces of this series posted as a single story on the SWG Archive.)

Bunniverse by Zhie

[Reviews - 0]

A collection of interrelated stories spanning from before the First Age through to the Fourth Age. Very elf-centric; my intention is to eventually include every single elf in some way into the series. rnrnThere are AU elements included, such as Thranduil being born in Valinor, or Galadriel having a romantic fling with Erestor when they were younger. While these really aren't canon, nothing really disrupts canon too greatly if at all.rnrnNot everything in this series is collected here (due to some stories having higher ratings). Additional stories in this series can be found at Phoenix: http://phoenix.zhie.usrnrnSince the function currently is not working to allow for multiple subseries, please use this listing until it is fixed: rnrnPre-First Age

Only a Woman II by Marta

These four vignettes were inspired by the Advent themes. They focus on the four noble women of Gondor and Rohan around the time of the Ring War, and are each inspired by a candle on the Advent wreath, and by an inequality that I consider the mark of a broken world.

The Bard's lost scrolls by Rhapsody

For Keiliss, who wanted to see what I would write for these prompts.

Thank you Wenont, who patiently edited the pieces (and her hands itched to see these works unedited and she couldn't resist) as I put them online.
