Well-paced and very sad. I like the way you depict Miriel as ascending the Meneltarma not out of fear but in a desperate and brave attempt to sacrifice herself to save Numenor...
Thanks, Raksha - this is an idea that's been rattling around in my head for a couple of years. I'd discarded a ton of earlier attempts and then something about the combination of B2MeM prompts and Jimmy Buffett's music and a National Geographic story on a dangerous volcano made everything finally come together. I'm glad you liked it!

She does indeed appear to be too late. Too bad she never appears to have known Zigur was properly described as the Father of Lies and the Deceiver. It is likely what he told her was wrong to begin with--or at least the efficacy of the remedy implied was the lie.
Definitely she's too late. As for whether she ever considered the Zigur's reputation? This piece doesn't even attempt to go there.
Thank you for reading!

I tried to read this at LJ, but couldn't get in. *sigh*
Poor Zimraphel! So very dreadful a fate...this is so vividly written; when I read the part about her skin coming off, it made me cringe.
I like the mentions of the Vala we don't see later-- it makes me curious about them.
LJ's been incredibly unstable for the last several days, hasn't it?
I found first-hand accounts from survivors of volcanic eruptions in Indonesia in the late 1800s and based some of my descriptions on those. I'm really pleased that they worked for you!
I loved the descriptions of the Valar in The Book of Lost Tales, both the ones that made the cut and the ones that didn't. I'm glad you enjoyed that, too!
Thank you! :D
