Prologue - Dust Will Turn The Seed Home

I can't believe I never reviewed this story! It must be because I uploaded it to my Nook to read, and then never got back to review it!

In spite of it being an AU book-movie-crossover, it did not have that hectic and artificial air about it of most of that genre. Legolas (and the other canon characters) had about them the feel of canon, and Dawn truly came across as one who had spent decades in a new world with a new life.

The ending was both happy and melancholy at the same time: the bittersweet ending appropriate to Tolkien's world, in which he always tried to mix the bitter with the sweet, and the joy with the pain. It was a lovely story.

And Ellyn's illustrations were lovely as well.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much.  It is lovely to know that you enjoyed it,  that you thought Legolas et al felt right, and that Dawn fitted in despite her very different beginnings!

I'm really, pleased, too, that you felt it had the right mixture of bitter and sweet, as that was what I really wanted to achieve.

Ellyn's pictures go so very well, too, don't they?

I do wonder about posting more of the series here...  I think they would be alright, as cross-overs are allowed.

Chapter Eight - Sail Away. Sail Away...

I knew what would happen in the story; I read some parts of it; and yet, it brought tears to my eyes again... and not just once.

My sight is blurry now too, as I reached the end. The elves' departure from Middle-earth always makes me a little sad. :(

Thank you for this wonderful, warm, touching story of love and friendship.

Author's Response:

I am so happy that you read it - after finding yourself illustrating a slightly odd AU story!  And don't your illustrations fit so well?  They have the right sense of melancholy in places.

I always feel I should apologise for bringing tears to people's eyes - and yet it is a big compliment...

Thank you - it is, of course, always an even bigger compliment to get praise for individual characters from people who write those same characters and love them dearly themselves - so I am duobly flattered!

I felt this had to have that sense of melancholy- and of time both running out and stretching endlessly... I am really glad tha you enjoyed it.

Chapter Eight - Sail Away. Sail Away...

A lovely story that builds gradually, not to a climax, but to 'happiness', and a real sense that the Third Age has ended. (Of course, it was quite hard for me to read, but) I liked the slow rhythm of the Elves' lives, and the way they were content with promises for the future. Of all the characters, your Legolas and Gimli were particularly special.

Author's Response:

I think I might have put my response in the wrong place again...  It says:
