I think I've read this before, but I enjoyed rereading it and it made me smile. The image of Saruman holding a baby craban is oddly adorable.
Aw, thank you! I assure you Saruman is still mortified by the cute quotient in this story. ;) (Sorry also for the late reply, I think I messed my email notification thing up for this site, so I went through manually to check my stories for reviews I might've overlooked.)

Very nice characterization of Saruman and his pride; with good contrast with Radagast and Gandalf. I loved his relationship with the craban too; he's even named it.
Thanks, Raksha! The craban was never intended to be more than a side note, but I couldn't resist making him a major factor in the story. The Saruman of my fanon actually has a long history of fondness for corvid birds, although he'd never admit it.

Very interesting! I especially like the end - a reader can feel the hint of what Saruman will become one day, and it is sort of scary and makes you shiver. Well done.
Thanks, Ellynn! I'm glad the ending worked for you. Saruman's character and downfall have always been fascinating to me, though not all that much is said of them (ah well, more room for me to rampage around with my own ideas!)
