Hope

This was quite a nice read! Like the time setting of 2951 and the dialogue between the young canon characters Aragorn and Halbarad! If I have any critique, it could have used a slight bit of scenery description when Halbarad spots Aragorn. Was it day or night, and was it wooded or not, etc.  But that is just me, and I can imagine that part myself as I see it. Thanks for sharing this tale!

Thank you for reading/reviewing!

Elves!

Such a meeting is sort of bittersweet at this point for him, isn't it?  Lovely to see them,

and reassuring, too, but bringing home, and all it entails, to the forefront of his mind.

I feel like I want to cuddle both Aragorn and Halbarad.

I guess Aragorn, and us, will find out about that conversation between Elladan and Halbarad at some unexpected point in the future :)

Author's Response:

:-) Definitely bittersweet; and of course Aragorn is torn by not being able to tell Halbarad about Arwen, in addition to everything else about 'home'.

They wouldn't mind the cuddle, as long as they're not being embarrassed in front of everybody ;-)

Scout

Oh excellent!  The logic of the orc-tracking, the description of the attack on the orcs and the wait for the return of the scouts is all so really well thought out.

And well done Halbarad; and no wonder Aragorn is excited, either.

Author's Response:

Thanks - glad to see it worked for you:-)

Patrol

I can see the captain being quite impressed by the amount of sense this pair show!

Poor Aragorn - doubtless there will be other times to visit his father's grave, but even so it must be difficult to be so near.

Author's Response:

Yeah, it almost can't last...

I'm sure there will be another opportunity for Aragorn - *beats at sudden plotbunny with big stick*

Bridge

I do love the deepening friendship between the two cousins, and I am really looking forward to them joining this first patrol.

Author's Response:

Thank you - I hope they oblige and tell me what happens (sooner rather than later *g*)

Arrival

Yes, I'm sure Aragorn was very confused with everything when he had returned to his people, and you describe those events very well. ;)

I hope we won't have to wait much for the 3rd chapter. :)

Author's Response:

Thanks - all I can promise is that the wait is likely to be shorter than the one between the first and the second....

Notes

A nicely in-depth fic, providing with an excellent take on how the friendship between Halbarad and Aragorn began, as well as Aragorn's journeying to the Angle to integrate with the Dunedain and prepare for his role as Chieftain. Both Halbarad and Aragorn were portrayed wonderfully. Aragorn's thoughts especially on his foster family, the home of his childhood and the destiny that awaits him were written out beautifully.

Author's Response:

Thank you - it must have been overwhelming at first for Aragorn.
