Story Notes:

For B2MEM Day 11: "Peace demands the most heroic labor and the most heroic sacrifices."

Thomas Merton

Write a story or poem or create artwork where characters make sacrifices in order to achieve their goals.

When Folco Boffin asked for half his inheritance early and left his home, folk chalked it up to his new wife and wondered how well she got on with the missus.

When he started entertaining Men at his house, they scratched their heads and wondered if his long association with Frodo Baggins had cracked him the wrong way.

When, after the Troubles, he returned to his father penniless, they shook their heads at Mr. Boffin’s softheartedness, welcoming back that traitor.

And no one knew where the parcels of money and corn, sitting in their fireplaces each week, had come from.
