Duty, despair, and a golden Ring. A conversation and an argument on the banks of the Anduin, featuring Boromir and Legolas.
This story was written for the March Challenge "Lion & Lamb." The elements were two opposite words that one character would exhibit, and mine were "compassionate/merciless." I'll let you decide which character is being both compassionate and merciless.
By way of warning, this story turned into a sequel for another story of mine called "Beyond the Mountain Passes," but I don't think you need to read that one for this story to make sense.
