Long after the end of the Fourth Age, a unique treasure is uncovered in what was once the Shire. This is the story of some of those who owned it, and why they cherished it, and how they passed it on.

Story Notes:

This was written for the January 2014 potluck challenge. The challenge was to write a story inspired by a particular gem stone. I chose garnet. Although the first two scenes feature original characters, most of this story is about major canon characters from The Lord of the Rings.
