Biography:

My love of Tolkien began in childhood, but only recently have I discovered the world of fanfiction and the opportunities it gives to those of us who are creative and love the world the Professor made. Top Commenter

The stories I write tend to be angst, but I've had a bit of fun with fluff, romance and comedy, too. While canon is important to me, I do like to play with it and have got a fanon of my own.

I am active on other websites, including fanfiction.net and LiveJournal, and have created two websites of my own to indulge my love of quality anfiction and to celebrate those writers whose talent and skill deserves to be recognised.

On the Archives of Excellence, great stories from a variety of fandoms is listed and linked, though I will host stuff from time to time.  Every month, there is a writing challenge open to all writers. I run it through fanfiction.net, but if I find people with no account there wanting to take part, I can set up the poll somewhere else.

The Golden Quill Awards is an The Golden Quill Awardsannual event to celebrate great writers from different fandoms. I'm hoping to generate interest in this so that the competition will grow in the coming years. Awards are offered by genre rather than fandom to give everyone a chance to win.

Given my personal bias, it's not surprising that LOTR/Silmarillion fanfiction dominates those sites - for now - so I've joined this one to slake my thirst for quality Tolkien fanfiction.

Angwëverse by WendWriter

[Reviews - 0]

Angwë is one of my two recurring fallen Maiar. His tragedy is that he only wanted something simple of his own, but he forgot that the thing you own can own you. He eventually becomes the Balrog of Moria, in a saga that has got him a fan club of his own. His story begins at the Creation and ends... well, we know where it ends. The action takes place in various places in Arda and in Valinor.

Artíreverse. by WendWriter

[Reviews - 1]

Artíre the double agent came into being because I wanted to give the Watcher in the Water a backstory. I made him a lover of drama and conflict - observing, not taking part, who was inveigled by Sauron into taking Melkor's side against the Ainur. This creates a feud that bubbles for ages when Sauron becomes paranoid about the possibility of Artíre's seeking revenge. The pre-emptive strikes Sauron makes bring the Watcher's wrath upon him, and kicks off a cycle of hate that wreaks havoc throughout Middle-earth.

Elrond's Realm by WendWriter

[Reviews - 2]

My fanon for Elrond's Realm is heavily influenced by Nilmandra, Daw the Minstrel, Jay of Lasgalen, and Epilachna, though I often use movieverse. I like the idea that he is in love with his wife and that his dual heritage can cause some complications physically and psychologically. I've made him a venerable lord who is loved and respected by his people, but tends to keep to himself as a rule. He has some separation issues and this affects his relationships, but he hides his pains beneath his lordly competence and wisdom. His sons are opposites in character, and I've made Elladan the reserved one while Elrohir tends to be impulsive. The impact of the loss of their mother skews them a bit - they become more aggressive, but their capacity for love remains. Their realm is run on egalitarian lines and the OCs I've created all have their place in the household - and in each others' hearts.

Hobbitry by WendWriter

[Reviews - 2]

My Hobbitry series is a set of related stories in which Hobbits get up to all kinds of shenanigans between canonical events. Sometimes they are thoughtful and given to introspection, but for the most part Hobbits are fun-loving and prone to mischief. Well, that's how I see them.

Saruman by WendWriter

[Reviews - 1]

Saruman was the White Wizard before he acquired the Many Colours. His story is one of the saddest in the fandom because he knew what he was doing, and the way out, but insisted on self-destruction in a fruitless bid for power. Even when defeated, he looked for petty ways of getting at people instead of mending his ways. The psychology behind it fascinates me. What drives people to this kind of madness?
