New! The Ranger & The Shieldmaiden by Elora, Hanasian

Rated R
[Reviews - 0]
Table of Contents

This tale first began as a prequel concept for our Black Company of Arnor portfolo (drawing on characters featured in that work but well prior to the Legacy period of time).

Having already written, elsewhere, the Legacy tale (a mammoth sprawling and unrurly creature to say the least), we wanted to explore the early days of the Black Company, drawing together younger iterations of characters and clarifying how this intersects with original characters such as Naiore Dannan.

We also wanted to explore various themes, such as:

Importantly, we have taken some liberties with cannon concerning Cardolan. In this tale, Cardolan is not entirely defunct. Inspiration is drawn from the fact that a brooch mentioned in Fellowship as drawn from the barrows (which were the graves of the noble and royal line of Cardolan) - "Fair was she that wore this on her shoulder". This resulted in the notion that a small group of Cardolan survivors endure, hidden from Sauron and their Anorian rivals (remember, the relationship of Cardolan with Arthedain and Rhuadaur was fractious to say the least). This small group would be suspicious, paranoid, fearful as Elrond lent succour to Arthedain whilst Sauron's plague left Cardolan a nation of ruins and graves.

What emerged is this tale of the final traumatic stages of the War of the Ring and what followed, centred around two original characters: Berendil, a Ranger of Cardolan, and Freja, a Shieldmaiden of Rohan.

It is a tale that includes major character deaths and there is sexual content as well, so readers are given fair disclosure of that.

New! The Kin-Strife of Gondor ~ The Reign of King Castamir by Hanasian, Elora

Rated R

Table of Contents

Of all of Gondor's long history, no chapter is as tragic or as brutal as the Kin-Strife. The Kin Strife effectively started with the death of King Valacar in the year 1432 of the Third Age and ended some 16 years later. Castamir, claiming his pure Numenorean bloodline and a descendant of the Royal line, overthrew Eldacar, the rightful heir of the throne of Gondor, but who was of mixed Gondorian and Rhovanion blood.

This tale is but one of many, and tells of some of the people who got caught up in the dark and brutal civil war in Gondor. and, begins with Castamir claiming the crown of Gondor from the defeated King Eldacar.

This is a Gondorian tale co-written by me (Hanasian) and my wife (Elora).
Unless stated otherwise in the chapter notes, the Prologue and the odd-numbered chapters were written by Hanasian, and the even-numbered chapters were written by Elora. I would also like to thank my wife Elora for her editing and taking the rough edges from my writing.

An Honourable End by Elora

Rated PG13

Table of Contents

This is a tale of the East Fold, as Rhun's incursions into Rohan intensify - bleeding off the strength of Rohan during the War of the Ring.

Before the East Fold was the East Fold, it had been considered by the Easterlings to be their land. Dispossessed, this fuels particular enimity towards the interlopers - the Rohirrim.

The Rohirrim, meanwhile, see themselves as superior to the Easterlings.

Thus, this tale is told with a post-colonial frame of reference...seeking to capture the implicit biases of the characters.
